STX today announces the signing of Olympic medalist Alex Carpenter, the No. 1 draft pick for the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL).
“Alex is a player that embodies the core values of STX – strength, skill, and sportsmanship,” says Matt Hoppe, Senior Global Brand Manager at STX. “She has demonstrated these values on and off the ice, and is the best there is in women’s hockey right now. We are proud to support Alex and are excited for her perspective as we continue to modify and develop equipment that empowers hockey players to perform at their highest level.”
During her Junior season at Boston College, Carpenter was the recipient of the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award, an honor given to the top female ice hockey player at the NCAA level. In 2015, Carpenter was awarded All-American status for Women’s Hockey, Division I. After graduating from Boston College, she was the first overall NWHL draft pick for the 2015 season. Most recently, Carpenter was named to USA Hockey’s roster for the 2016 Women’s Four Nations Cup in Vierumaki, Finland.
“The support from the team at STX has been overwhelming,” says Carpenter. “I am excited to partner with a company that shares my passion for hockey and is so enthusiastic about developing innovative equipment to support women’s ice hockey and taking its players to the next level.”
